Ella on the Outside

Ella is the new girl at school. She doesn’t know anyone and she doesn’t have any friends.

And she has a terrible secret.

Ella can’t believe her luck when Lydia, the most popular girl in school, decides to be her new best friend – but what does Lydia really want? And what does it all have to do with Molly, the quiet, shy girl who won’t talk to anyone?

A gripping story of secrets, lies, and friendship...

"A perfectly-pitched, thoughtful story with a big heart" - Katherine Woodfine (Author of The Clockwork Sparrow)

Charming, subtle & incredibly – suddenly – moving, Ella On The Outside is one of those delightfully unclassifiable ‘thank god it’s in the world books that Nosy Crow does so well. It’s due out on May 3rd & ... it’s something to get on your radar now
- LH Johnson
Described as "A gripping story of lies, friendship, and blackmail" this is actually a real page-turner, which reminded me a bit of "Heathers" (that classic dark comedy from way back when) but offers up a valuable moral lesson on friends not being quite as 'friendly' as they first seem. A real riveting read.
- Read it Daddy
This is one of those books which it is important not to spoil for the reader by giving too much away! Ella's 'secret' is handled with great sensitivity by Cath Howe and her thoughts, anxieties and doubts explored as she puzzles her way through them.
